The Washington Chapter of the American Anglican Council
The Dangerous Revision of Title IV
The
revision of the disciplinary canons of ECUSA, Title IV, is scheduled
for completion at the General Convention in June 2006. One easily
overlooked implication of this revison is that it extends the canons
to include the laity, thereby giving a bishop the power to dissolve
a vestry simply by ruling that all the vestry members are excommunicated
for disciplinary reasons, without reference to the local clergy.
